Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 29, 2026

The short version.

  • Your recordings are deleted automatically 30 days after each check.
  • We use your voice to train our models only if you turn training on. Turning it off deletes the copies we kept.
  • We do not sell your data, share it for advertising, use ad or analytics trackers, or use your voice to identify you.
  • You can delete your recordings, or your whole account, at any time in Settings.

1. Who we are

VocalMetric is operated by BMCT Trading Inc. ("we," "us"), which runs the VocalMetric website, apps and API (the "Service"). This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and what choices you have. It is part of our Terms of Service. Questions: privacy@vocalmetric.com.

2. What we collect

  • Account details: your email address and whether it is verified. If you use a password, it is stored by Amazon Cognito in a form we cannot read. If you sign in with Google or Apple, that company shares your email address and an account ID with us. Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your real one, if you choose to hide it.
  • Age confirmation: we ask for your date of birth only to check that you are 21 or older. We do not store it. We store only the fact that you confirmed your age, and when.
  • Voice recordings you make in the Service.
  • Check results: the result and confidence score, each model's output, audio quality measurements, the recording length, and whether you used the web, iPhone or Android app.
  • Feedback you give us about a result, such as how you actually felt.
  • Consent records: when you accepted the Terms and confirmed your age, and when you turned training on or off. These records include your IP address and browser type.
  • Payment details: Stripe processes card payments on the website, and Apple or Google process in-app purchases. We never see or store your full card number. We keep your plan, its status and renewal dates, and a customer ID from Stripe.
  • Technical and security data: IP address, browser or app version, and a log of security events such as account creation and sign-in changes.
  • Messages you send us by email.

3. What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
  • We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies or pixels.
  • We do not create voiceprints or use your voice to identify who you are. Our models only estimate how a voice sample sounds.
  • We do not use your recordings to train models unless you turn training on.

4. How we use your information

  • To run checks and show you your results and history.
  • To create and secure your account, send sign-in codes, and prevent abuse and fraud.
  • To manage your plan and payments.
  • To answer you when you contact us, and to send important notices about your account or these policies. We do not send marketing email.
  • To fix problems and to measure how well the models work, using check results.
  • To train and improve our models, only with recordings from people who turned training on.
  • To meet our legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

5. Recordings and model training

When you run a check, your recording is uploaded, analyzed, and stored so you can see your history. Recordings are deleted automatically 30 days after the check. The result stays in your history until you delete it.

Training is off unless you turn it on, either when you join or later in Settings → Privacy. While it is on, we keep a copy of each recording you make (except ones that fail our quality checks), together with what our models said about it. If you are a model trainer we invited, the copy also keeps what you told us about how you actually were during the check. We use these copies to train and test our models. They are kept until you turn training off or delete your account, and then we delete them. Models already trained with a recording cannot remove what they learned from it, but the recording itself is gone and will not be used again.

6. Consumer health data

Some state laws (including Washington's My Health My Data Act and similar laws in Nevada and Connecticut) may treat parts of what we collect as consumer health data. This section is our notice under those laws.

  • What we collect: your voice recordings, and the results and estimates about whether your voice sounds like you may be under the influence. It also includes any feedback you give about how you felt.
  • Where it comes from: directly from you, when you run a check or give feedback.
  • Why we collect it: to give you your results and history and, only if you turn training on, to improve our models.
  • Who we share it with: only the service providers that host and process data on our behalf, listed in section 7. We do not sell consumer health data or share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.
  • Your consent: we collect it only after you agree when you join. Training uses it only with your separate opt-in.
  • Your rights: you can find out whether we have your consumer health data and who it was shared with, get a copy of it, delete it, and withdraw your consent (see section 10).

7. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with these service providers, which handle it on our behalf under contract:

  • Amazon Web Services (United States): hosting, database, file storage, sign-in (Amazon Cognito) and email delivery (Amazon SES).
  • Google and Apple: only if you choose "Continue with Google" or "Continue with Apple," to confirm who you are.
  • Stripe: payments on the website.
  • Apple and Google: purchases made in our mobile apps.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or to defend our legal rights. If VocalMetric is sold or merged, your information may move to the new owner, who must follow this policy.

8. Cookies and local storage

We use one essential cookie that keeps you signed in. When you sign in with Google or Apple, our sign-in service at auth.vocalmetric.com uses its own essential cookies. Your browser also saves your theme and language choices on your device. We use no other cookies, and no advertising or analytics cookies.

  • Turn training on or off: Settings → Privacy.
  • Delete your recordings and results: Settings → Danger Zone → Delete all data.
  • Delete your account: Settings → Danger Zone → Delete account. This removes your account, recordings, results, training copies and sign-in, and cancels any website subscription. App store subscriptions must be canceled with Apple or Google.
  • Get a copy of your data, correct it, or ask what we share: email privacy@vocalmetric.com from the address on your account.

We answer requests within 45 days and may need to confirm that the request comes from you. If we turn down a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer, and we will review it again. If you are still not satisfied, you can contact your state attorney general. We will never treat you differently for using these rights.

11. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, access is limited to what is needed to run the Service, and passwords are handled by Amazon Cognito. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.

12. Age limit and location

VocalMetric is only for people 21 and older in the United States. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If we learn that we have, we delete it. Your information is stored and processed in the United States.

13. Changes to this policy

If we make an important change, we will tell you by email or in the Service before it takes effect. We will never start using your recordings in a new way without asking you first.
